Charlton Athletic striker Simon Church is set to become a free agent next month after the club neglected the opportunity to offer the former Welsh international a new contract according to South London Today.

Church joined the Addicks in 2013 on a two year contract following his release from Reading after a string of unsuccessful loan spells.

However, in two seasons with the London club he has been unable to establish himself as a regular starter ahead of popular duo Igor Vetokele and Tony Watt.

He managed 55 appearances for the Addicks scoring five goals, two of which came in 17 appearances this campaign.

The 26-year-old had been the subject of interest from local club Millwall in January but a deal could not be agreed as Church wanted a longer contract, but the Lions only favoured a short term loan deal.

Church is not short of offers according to his representatives as they told the South London Press that there is ‘interest from other Championship sides and clubs overseas that compete in the Europa League.’
