Charlton Athletic and Bristol City have both been charged by the FA after failing to control their players in the clash between the two teams a fortnight ago.
The incident occured in the 86th minute when Robins striker Famara Diedhiou appeared to kick-out at a Charlton player on the ground, subsequently being shown a straight red card and sparking a scuffle between both sets of players.
As a result, the FA confirmed that Charlton and Bristol had been charged £12,500 and £10,000 respectively with the club's announcing the decision on Tuesday afternoon.
The match ended in a dramatic 2-1 victory to Lee Johnson's side with Josh Brownhill netting a 98th minute winner to send the home fans wild and the Addicks back home empty handed.
As things stand, Bristol City sit in sixth place in the Championship table with 15 games played, five points behind table-toppers West Brom, whilst Charlton occupy tenth, three points off the play-off pace.
This weekend sees the two teams face Millwall and Cardiff City as they both look to push further up the table.
The verdict
I am a bit confused how Charlton have been lumbered with the bigger fine here considering it was an incident sparked by the Bristol player.
Surely the fines should be equal? Especially considering no further punishment was dished out to the Charlton players in the aftermath of the game.
However, it is crucial that both teams do not dwell on the ruling. Both have their ambitions this season and distracting themselves too much with stuff like this will only end up hindering them.
