Charlton Athletic and AFC Wimbledon are two of the Football League clubs ready to make a summer move for non-league defender Nathan Ralph, according to a report by HITC Sport.

Ralph has impressed with his performances for Woking in the National League this season but looks almost certain to leave the non-league club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this season.

The left back, who can also play as a left winger, joined Woking in summer 2016 from Newport County and he has since played over 70 games for the club.

Prior to his move to Woking, Ralph has played for Yeovil Town and Newport County, as well as having loan spells with Kettering Town and Aldershot Town.

The former Ipswich Town and Peterborough United schoolboy has caught the attention of a number of Football League clubs with Charlton and Wimbledon among the interested parties.

After losing at home to Dover Athletic on the weekend, Woking were relegated from the National League and will compete in the sixth tier of English football next term.

This means that Ralph is likely to leave this summer when he becomes a free agent.

The 25-year-old has told Woking that he will not be extending his contract amid interest from the Football League.

The Verdict

Ralph never quite cut it in the Football League last time but he has dropped down to the National League and built up his reputation with non-league football. The 25-year-old is an attack-minded full back who now looks ready to make his way back to England's professional league system. If Charlton stay down, then Ralph would be a good addition to compete with Lewis Page and Wimbledon could use his services to keep Jonathan Meades on his toes.
