31-year-old Charlton Athletic centre-back and captain Jason Pearce has left a humorous message on his Twitter page after the 1-2 defeat to Swansea City at The Valley last night.

The image that Pearce includes in the post shows a few Swansea players heading towards Pearce in a war of words as the Charlton captain was in the Swansea box for a corner and possibly pulled a Swansea man to the ground as the corner was lofted into the box.

Pearce is known to be a physical, tough-tackling centre half who can be described as an old fashioned defender still, as well as being adept with the ball at his feet.

Swansea beat Charlton 1-2 away from home last night, with Jonathan Leko opening the scoring in the second minute by driving in from the edge of the area. Yan Dhanda then equalised for the Swans with a deflected effort from the edge of the area, before Andre Ayew volleyed in from Matt Grimes' corner.

The Verdict:

The Swansea players had a right to feel that Pearce was in the wrong following his off-the-ball clash with a Swansea player inside the Swans penalty area, and with the referee not giving anything, the Swansea players felt the need to argue with the Addicks captain.

Pearce was clearly up for standing his ground, meanwhile, and that sort of character is exactly what Lee Bowyer wants from his side.
