Charlton Athletic will be looking to build upon their good early season form when they take on Fulham this weekend in the Championship's early kick off, as they seek to record only their third away win of the campaign.

Lee Bowyer's men have made an almost seamless transition into the second division, with the former Leeds United player setting his team out to gain points in every game, earning plaudits aplenty for their direct and expansive style of play this campaign.

One of the main components of Bowyer's preferred 4-3-1-2 formation is Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher, who has been in fine form for the Addicks so far, scoring three goals and assisting one in his first 10 appearances for the Red Robins this term, with the Blues academy graduate thriving in the box to box midfield role gifted to him by Bowyer.

And the youngster has today talked up his team's chances ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage, with the 19-year-old telling CAFC.co.uk: “They probably will have more of the ball than us, but we’ll work hard like we do every single game and we’re going to go for the win.”

The Verdict

Gallagher's comments will no doubt ring well with both his manager and teammates, with the young midfielder showing the belief and leadership qualities of a player twice his age, further indicating the influence that Lee Bowyer has had on his career so far.

The midfielder will be looking to continue his early-season form during the coming months, particularly if he wants to impress the likes of Frank Lampard and Jody Morris, who have this season shown a willingness to blood in young talent into the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge.

Lastly, Gallagher will also be feeling positive about his future England national team prospects, with the 19-year-old having already received caps at under 17, 18, 19 and 20 levels for his country, he will no doubt have caught the eye of Gareth Southgate's aids who are always casting the net wide to consider young talent for an England call-up.
