Portsmouth’s pursuit of a new left back has been well documented in recent weeks, with first Steve Seddon and now more recently Charlie Daniels being mentioned as potential additions for the Fratton Park outfit this month.
As the rumour mill surrounding Pompey and a move for former Bournemouth favourite Daniels continues to build, we take a look at the situation so far involving this particular transfer link.
What do we know so far?
The defender is currently on a deal with Shrewsbury Town until the end of January after arriving at the club back in October following his departure from Bournemouth, which could potentially open the door for the player to move back to the South Coast and thus closer to his birthplace of Harlow.
Given his strong links with that part of England, it was unsurprising to see Kenny Jackett being questioned about the player following the club’s FA Cup defeat to Bristol City, with the former Millwall boss going as far to tell The News that age is no barrier in their pursuit of a replacement for Cameron Pring.

Meanwhile club legend Alan McLoughlin has admitted that he believes the player could well be on his way to Fratton Park this season during a recent interview with BBC Radio Solent, only heightening expectation that a move could well come to fruition.
Is it likely to happen this month?
It would be fair to say that there is no particular rush for Pompey to get this deal done ad the contract situation surrounding Daniels allows the player to see out his deal this month before moving to another club as a free agent.
Therefore it would be fair to assume that the player is preparing for a return to the South Coast in the not too distant future as he continues to run down his current deal under Steve Cotterill at Shrewsbury, making the move even more likely to happen.
