The wait goes on for football to return to our lives, with recent off-the-field events calling a halt to fixtures across the globe.

It remains to be seen as to when fixtures will return, but PFA chair Gordon Taylor has suggested that matches could be less than 90 minutes per match.

As expected, this bold claim has prompted plenty of reaction from football fans across the country, with some players also weighing in with their verdict.

West Brom forward Charlie Austin certainly isn't in support of the idea of playing matches of less than 90 minutes, and made the hilarious claim that they'll soon be playing matches with six players on each team.

One Baggies supporter was quick to respond to Austin's comments on the six-a-side team, and revealed what team he would line-up with if that came about.

Austin thanked the support for including him in his team, but insisted that he has to include Filip Krovinovic and Kyle Edwards in any six-a-side team.

West Brom are currently sat second in the Championship table, and will be hoping they can hold their nerve in the race for promotion, with the Baggies just six points clear of third-placed Fulham with nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

The Verdict:

He's spot on here.

Krovinovic has been brilliant in his first season with West Brom, and I think he'll play a starring role in their promotion bid this season in the Championship.

Edwards too has been impressive for the Baggies, and he's exactly the type of player that Slaven Bilic should be building his side around in future years.

I have to agree with Austin in saying that it would be a silly idea in reducing the time of matches for the remainder of the season, as it doesn't give a fair reflection on the league table by the end of this year's campaign.
