The Daily Mail have reported that the 26-year-old was in constant contact with QPR boss Chris Ramsey over the summer to keep up to date with his status as a professional footballer.

Since making a name for himself at Burnley, the English striker has quickly become one of the hottest properties outside of the top-flight and most in-demand strikers in the country - attracting interest from a number of Premier League sides, including Manchester United.

Scoring 18 goals in the Premier League last season, he has certainly proved himself as a top quality striker.

However, among the interest from elsewhere, Austin remains keen to commit to the side that were relegated to the Sky Bet Championship last year.

Speaking to Sky Sports' Soccer AM, he said: 'Chris has pulled me in and we have had conversations throughout the window.'

Constant communication between the player and manager has resulted in the striker surprisingly deciding the stay in the Sky Bet Championship for one more season. Austin has recently been very keen to prove his commitment to the Rs.

The striker continued: 'I've trained hard with all this going on, I have got my head down and worked hard for QPR and luckily enough we have got 10 points from 15 so far.'

The 26-year-old has been surrounded by constant speculation over the last couple of months after QPR placed a £15m price tag for his services, but now it's time for him to continue his hard work on and off the pitch and prove himself once again to fight for Premier League action next season.

There's no doubt that Austin will want to play in the Premier League in the near future, whether it's with QPR or another side, but the striker is now ready to work hard for the Championship team as they push for an immediate return to the top-flight.
