Wycombe Wanderers attacker Paul Smyth made his long-awaited return from injury during his side's EFL Trophy victory over MK Dons on Tuesday night.

The 22-year-old replaced team-mate Scott Kashket while his side were trailing at half-time during the clash at Stadium:mk, and Smyth helped the Chairboys produce a second-half comeback courtesy of goals from Nnamdi Ofoborh and Josh Parker.

Smyth, who is on loan from Championship club QPR, came through the match unscathed, and he will now be pressing for a place in Gareth Ainsworth's league side when they travel to face Tranmere over the weekend.

Wycombe have been excelling in League One this season, with the Adams Park outfit currently sitting second in the table, and they will now be further boosted by the return of Smyth who looked eager to impress on Tuesday evening.
