Brighton winger Reda Khadra could make his loan move to Sheffield United permanent further down the line, a report from The Sheffield Star has revealed.

While Khadra has only ever made one senior appearance for Brighton, the winger impressed during a loan spell in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers last season.

That has now prompted the Blades to move and bring the 21-year-old back to the second-tier on a season-long loan for the 2022/23 campaign.

Now however, it seems as though there is already the possibility that move will become a longer term one, at some point in the future.

According to this latest update, a clause that obliges the move be made permanent if certain criteria are met, has been written into the terms of this loan deal.

It is thought that Brighton had been keen to include such a clause in this deal, due to the fact that Khadra is now into the final year of his contract with the Seagulls.

The Verdict

This does feel like a rather exciting revelation for those of a Sheffield United persuasion.

Khadra was excellent in the Championship for Blackburn last season, and if he makes a similar impact for the Blades, he will become a very popular player at Bramall Lane.

Should that happen, then there will be many around the club who will be keen to see him back there on a permanent basis, and this clause will ensure Sheffield United are in a strong position to make that happen.

With that in mind, Sheffield United supporters can go into to this season, looking forward to seeing what Khadra can do, without as much concern about his future as there would usually be with a loan player.
