Queens Park Rangers will walk out onto the turf at Deepdale on the opening day of this Championship season hoping to improve on their 16th place finish from last campaign.

Having already signed German defender Toni Leistner, it would seem that Steve McClaren’s attention will now turn to bolstering their attacking options.

The introduction of a couple of new forward threats on the wings and down the centre, could be a real difference maker for the Hoops this season.

Having scored just 58 goals throughout the entire league campaign, it is abundantly clear that a new strike force is called for.

McClaren, who replaced Ian Holloway as head coach in May this year, has been somewhat tentative in the transfer market to date, but will need to spend money if he is to get QPR back into the Premier League – a division they haven’t achieved since the 2014/15 season.

Although he has only been on the books at Manchester City since January this year, and spent the latter stages of last season on loan at Middlesbrough, Harrison would be a terrific signing for QPR, if they could draw him away from the Etihad, even on loan.

With Adama Traore keeping him out the starting lineup last season for Tony Pulis’ side, a move away to a club that can promise a starting spot could become ever more appealing for the 21-year-old.

The skill, pace and trickery down the wings that Harrison possesses could be a great addition to Steve McClaren’s lacklustre strike force.

Despite turning 33 this year, David Nugent is a sort after striker, with Sheffield United reportedly interested in signing the Championship veteran.

Nugent made 39 appearances for Derby County last season, in a campaign that saw them reach the play-offs, with the forward bagging himself nine goals and four assists along the way.

While signing the aged striker might not be the most exciting news for the Hoops fans, he is certainly capable of finding the net at this level, and guiding a team to a top six finish – something that QPR haven’t experienced since 2014.
