The 2019/20 EFL fixtures are released in less than 24 hours, with preparations for the new season well and truly underway.
After an enthralling year last time around, this season’s Championship campaign is shaping up to be another hugely competitive division, with Fulham, Huddersfield and Cardiff all hoping for an immediate return to the top-flight.
Plenty of managers have already started to reassemble their squads ahead of the new campaign, with free agents being snapped up left, right and centre following the release from their respective clubs.
There has also been plenty of speculation linking players with big-money moves elsewhere, so with all that being said, here, we take a look at the latest transfer rumours and news from the Championship over the past week…
After a hugely impressive campaign for Brentford last term, it comes as no surprise to see Maupay be linked with a move to the Premier League.
Burnley are the latest club to be linked with the Frenchman’s signature, as per reports from the Daily Mail, after scoring 28 goals and setting up nine assists for the Bees last season.
Brentford will be hoping to keep hold of their prolific front-man, and the West London club will reportedly hold out for £20million this summer.
Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria is set to depart Anfield for the fourth time in his career this summer, with Leeds United reportedly joining the race to sign the 21-year-old.
That’s according to journalist Courtney Friday, who says that Marcelo Bielsa’s side have joined the race to sign Ejaria, who made 16 appearances on loan with Reading last season.
It looks as if the Whites are set to miss out on the midfielder, though, with a return to the Madejski Stadium looking to be the most likely option this summer.
After playing an influential role in Barnsley’s automatic promotion from League One last season, Liam Lindsay is a player in serious demand.
The 23-year-old has been attracting interest from the likes of West Brom, Derby County, Brentford and Middlesbrough of late, after helping the Tykes concede the fewest amount of goals in the third tier last term.
However, according to reports from the Scottish Sun, Stoke City look set to win the race for the central defender, having had an offer of £2million plus add-ons accepted for the Scot.
With Stoke also edging closer to completing the signings of Nick Powell, Lee Gregory and Adam Davies, it looks as if the Potters mean business under Nathan Jones.
Reece Brown was an influential figure for Forest Green Rovers last season, but it looks as if the former Birmingham City youngster is set to depart the New Lane for pastures new.
Huddersfield’s Yorkshire rivals Leeds United were also believed to be interested in the 23-year-old, but after completing the signing of Tommy Elphick on a free transfer, Jan Siewert could be about to wrap up his second signing of the summer,
Following his release from Aston Villa at the end of last season, experienced winger Adomah is attracting interest from a host of clubs ahead of next season.
According to Bristol Live, Nottingham Forest, Millwall and Bristol City are keen on landing the 31-year-old, who would be available to sign on a free transfer this summer.
Having made over 500 appearances in his career, the wide-man would still be a very shrewd addition for any of the reported clubs.
According to TEAMtalk, a host of Championship clubs are interested in signing Forest Green defender Nathan McGinley this summer.
The ball-playing centre-half, who can also operate as a left-back, was hugely impressive for Mark Cooper’s side last season, and his loan move from Middlesbrough was made permanent in the January transfer window.
Swansea, Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield and Bristol City have all been credited with an interest in the talented defender, though, so it remains to be seen whether Rovers will lose another one of their star players this summer.
