Preparations for the 2019/20 campaign are heating up, and the weekend’s transfer news and rumours did not fail to disappoint.
There are less than four weeks to go until the beginning of the new EFL campaign, and managers are still reassembling their squads and bringing fresh faces through the door.
Today, we start at Elland Road, where there could be a very high-profile departure on the horizon…
The biggest news of the weekend definitely comes from Elland Road, with Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson set to depart the club.
The Scottish Sun claims that Rangers will look to sign Leeds striker Kemar Roofe for £5million, if Alfredo Morelos.
The Gers are braced for interest in their star forward after an impressive season last time out, and director Mark Allen is said to have identified Roofe as a replacement for Morelos.
He scored 15 goals for the Whites in all competitions last season, but only has one year remaining on his current deal at Elland Road.
According to Alan Nixon, Leeds will look to sign Stoke City’s Ryan Woods if Kalvin Phillips were to leave this summer.
The latter has been attracting interest from newly-promoted Premier League side Aston Villa, after an eye-catching campaign for Marcelo Bielsa’s side last term.
And if he were to leave, Bielsa will reportedly look to sign box-to-box midfielder Ryan Woods, who has really failed to set the world alight at Stoke since his move from Brentford.
Despite interest from the Premier League after scoring 11 goals in the top-flight last term, Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has signed a new long-term deal at Craven Cottage.
The Serbian forward has signed a new five-year deal with the London club, which is undoubtedly a massive boost for Scott Parker’s side going into the 2019/20 campaign.
Mitrovic netted 12 goals in 20 appearances for Fulham as they won promotion from the Championship in the 2017/18 campaign, and is bound to score goals for fun next term.
Salomon Rondon is a player in serious demand after an impressive loan spell with Newcastle United last term, and Rafa Benitez’ new club Dalian Yifang reportedly after his services.
The Venezuelan scored 12 goals in 33 games on loan with the Magpies last term, and has also been attracting interest from the likes of Wolves and West Ham since the end of the season.
He has a £16.5million release clause in his contract at The Hawthorns, so the funds could be beneficial for Slaven Bilic this summer.
Finally, after impressing on loan with Sheffield United last term, Everton’s Kieran Dowell is reportedly wanted by Huddersfield and Wigan on loan this summer.
The playmaker scored twice as the Blades won automatic promotion to the Premier League last term, and he also scored 10 goals on loan with Nottingham Forest in the 2017/18 season.
