Speaking to Hull City’s official media, Nouha Dicko has revealed it was the right time for him to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Dicko ended his long association with Wolves towards the end of the summer transfer window, opting to turn his back on Molineux in favour of a move to Hull, where is has linked up with Leonid Slutsky.

The 25-year-old had struggled for opportunities under Nuno Espirito Santo at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign, a frustrating start that led to his departure in the final week of the transfer window.

Speaking ahead of his potential Hull debut, Dicko revealed it was the right time for him to leave Wolves, he said: “I thought leaving Wolves would be hard but I felt it was the right time to leave for a new challenge.

“I’m not saying it was easy because I enjoyed my time there - but now I am happy to be here and playing for Hull City.”

The Sky Bet Championship returns this weekend, presenting Dicko with the opportunity to make his Hull debut when the Tigers face Derby County on Friday evening.

Slutsky’s side have made a promising start to the Championship season, despite having to undergo a major reshape over the summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

Hull have seven-points from their opening five fixtures of the season, and are looking to build on an impressive 4-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers prior to the international break.

The Tigers face back-to-back away fixtures in the coming week, first of all travelling to Derby on Friday evening, before making the long trip to London, where they will face Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Verdict

Dicko’s message is incredibly honest, with most people connected to Wolves understanding that it was the right time for the striker to leave Molineux.

It was clear that Nuno did not completely trust Dicko in Wolves’ new system, and it was best for all parties if they went their separate ways over the summer.

What is Wolves’ loss could be Hull’s gain, with Dicko having the potential to be an absolute steal for the Tigers, who will be hoping the striker can rediscover his goalscoring best at the KCOM Stadium.
