Championship side slap £4m price tag on Manchester United and Everton target

According to a report by The Sun, Bolton Wanderers will demand £4m if anyone wants to sign Jake Turner.

Despite not yet making his first team debut for Bolton Wanderers, Jake Turner is rated as one of their best young talents and the Trotters are desperate to keep him at the club.

Premier League clubs have been circling around the young goalkeeper and the likes of Everton and Manchester United have been thinking about submitting a bid for Turner.

However, this hefty price tag could now put them off trying to sign him.

Ben Alnwick and Mark Howard are currently ahead of the England youth international in the pecking order between the sticks at Bolton Wanderers but manager Phil Parkinson still rates him highly and wants to keep him there as a future first team player.

The 18-year-old has previously spent time out on loan at Northern League Premier side Stalybridge Celtic but he is yet to feature in the Football League.

Despite this, Bolton are still demanding any potential suitors pay £4m for his services as they look to keep their assets while remaining in financial trouble.

The Verdict

Jake Turner is considered to be one of Bolton’s best youngsters and it is no surprise that Premier League clubs are circling.

But it is refreshing to see a lower division club dig their heels in and insist that they will not be bullied into selling their best youngsters.

If Turner is good enough, he will get his first team chances – potentially next year – and then his price tag will rise even more.
