Championship side Reading are monitoring Cháteauroux duo Jean-Philippe Mateta and Oumare Tounkara, according to French news outlet Vosges Matin.
The Royals are among a number of clubs who have had scouts in the stands watching the attackers as they attract interest from clubs around Europe.
Mateta, 18, has recently broke through into the first-team set-up at the Stade Gaston Petit and has scored five goals in three appearances after finding the net regularly for the club’s B team.
Tounkara, 25, who had spells in England with Sunderland, Oldham, Bristol Rovers, Stevenage and Grimsby Town, has scored 10 goals in 21 outings for the French third-tier side.
The former France U20 international has been in prolific form since returning to his homeland after indifferent spells at a number of English clubs. He scored 11 times in 19 games for Nancy last season before leaving joining Cháteauroux last summer.
Reading climbed up to 12th in the Championship following a 4-3 win over bottom side Charlton Athletic last Saturday thanks to a last-gaps winner from Deniss Rakels.
After a good start to the campaign, the Royals slipped down the league which saw Steve Clarke lose his job after some poor results as the club turned to former favourite Brian McDermott.
McDermott’s men face Fulham this Saturday at the Madejski Stadium with the Cottagers looking for points to get them away from the Championship trap door.
