Championship highflyers, Reading, have agreed a fee with Liverpool for 23-year-old defender Tiago Ilori, according to the Liverpool Echo.
A £3.75 million fee has been agreed and Liverpool have given Ilori permission to speak to Reading to agree personal terms and undergo a medical.
The former Sporting Lisbon youngster arrived at Anfield back in 2013 but he has failed to make inroads on the first team, which has subsequently lead to Klopp shipping him out, after spending the majority of the last year playing with the Reds’ Under-23 side.
Ilori spent time on loan at Reading’s championship rivals, Aston Villa last season, but a season long loan was cancelled in January with Ilori failing to make a single appearance for Villa.
The Royals are keen to bolster their defensive options ahead of their promotion run in, as they sit third in the Championship, seeking a return to the top flight under the guidance of Jaap Stam.
This deal will break the original Reading FC transfer record of £2.5 million, whom they sign Emerse Fae from Nantes in 2007.
