West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in signing Leeds United centre-back Pontus Jansson, according to Swedish outlet Kvällsposten via Expressen.

The Baggies are thought to have made contact with Leeds with a view to making a bid for the 27-year-old, but are not thought to have lodged a bid yet.

This is another Whites player that the Baggies are keen on, with Darren Moore's side also keen on Leeds attacker Kemar Roofe.

Leeds will be hard pressed to let Jansson leave the club having become a permanent fixture at the back of the White's defence since his initial loan move from Torino in 2016.

He made 42 appearances last season and Bielsa is not known to want to get rid of him either.

Both clubs are hoping to be involved in a promotion push come the end of the season and as a result are looking to significantly strengthen.

Jansson recently returned to Yorkshire after an admirable display in Russia with Sweden, getting to the Quarter Finals.

The verdict

This would be a disastrous decision from Leeds if they decide to sell Jansson.

He is a top Championship centre-back and with the tricky transfer window they are having, giving themselves more work to do would be ridiculous.

On the other hand, he would be a very good signing for West Brom and would slot into the defence straight away.
