Maynard has spent the past week training with the Dons following his release from Cardiff City.

The 28-year-old first gained his goal scoring reputation in the Football League with Crewe Alexandra, where he found the net thirty two times in fifty nine games, averaging a goal every 1.84 games.

Maynard then moved on to Bristol City in 2008, after spending three years with Crewe. Maynard continued to score goals at a respectable rate, netting forty five times in his one hundred and twenty four appearances for the Robins.

His goal scoring record attracted the attention of West Ham United, who had just been relegated from the Premier League, who signed the striker in 2012.

Despite West Ham United gaining immediate promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs, Maynard struggled to make an impact, only finding the net twice in his fourteen appearances for the Hammers.

MK Dons have struggled in front of goal this season with strikers Simon Church and Sam Gallagher both failing to find the net this season, and Robinson will be hoping that Maynard could be the answer to his clubs goal scoring woes.

Maynard was sold to Cardiff City months after his arrival at Upton Park, where he was part of the squad that gained promotion into the Premier League for the first time in the Bluebirds' history, but appearances and goals continued to be a problem for the powerful striker who only made twenty two appearances for the club, finding the net twice, before being released in the summer of 2015.

Karl Robinson will be hoping that Maynard will be able to re-find the form he showed in his days with Bristol City and Crewe Alexandra, to help MK Dons avoid relegation and cement their place in the SkyBet Championship.

MK Dons currently lie 15th in the Sky Bet Championship table, three points off the play-offs and four points above the relegation zone. They face a tough trip to Burnley on Tuesday night.
