An unnamed Championship side are keeping tabs on Leeds United striker Souleymane Doukara, reports BBC Radio Yorkshire’s Mark Wilson on Twitter.

The 25-year-old moved to Elland Road back in 2014 after spells in Italy with Catania, Vibonese, and Rovigo, and has since gone on to become a key part of the squad at the Yorkshire outfit.

The Frenchman has scored 18 goals and laid on nine assists in 93 games for the club in the past three years, with his best goal-scoring campaign coming last term in which time he netted six goals for Garry Monk’s side, helping them to a seventh place finish in the Championship.

Yet it appears that his time at Leeds could be coming to an end this summer, as recent reports suggest that an unnamed Championship club are considering making a move for the forward this month.

Doukara was regularly behind star striker Chris Wood in the pecking order last season, hence he only started 17 times in the league and was substituted in on 17 other occasions, but he still managed to net key goals in wins over Rotherham United and Burton Albion to demonstrate his ability at changing a game from the bench.

The 25-year-old though has yet to appear in a matchday squad under Christiansen this season in any of their four matches to perhaps cast doubts on his future at Elland Road, doubts a Championship side are seemingly willing to take advantage of.

The Verdict: Souleymane Doukara may not have got many starts at Leeds United last term, but he often made a difference when coming off the bench for Garry Monk’s side.

Six goals represents his best one-season tally which is not bad for someone who started as many Championship games as he did coming off the bench, but his exclusion from Thomas Christiansen’s first four matchday squads of the season somewhat questions his long-term future at the club.

And an unnamed Championship side are reportedly seizing to use that to their advantage, and if they are indeed able to offer more regular first team football than Leeds are, it’s a deal which could well gather pace in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
