Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah could make a return to the Middlesbrough, according to Football Ghana.

The 30-year-old has two years left on his contract at Villa Park, but with the club’s precarious financial position, the Ghanaian could be offloaded to amount funds to pay off crippling debt.

If boss Tony Pulis is to enter the race for their former player’s signature, they will have to fend off competition from West Bromwich Albion, who are also linked with a move for the wide-man.

Adomah netted 15 goals in 45 appearances for the Villains last season, but it wasn’t enough to help them regain their Premier League status after the play-off final heartbreak.

If a move materialised, Adomah would return to the club that sold him to Villa two summers ago.

Middlesbrough could also combine a bid for Adomah with fellow Villa teammate Birkir Bjarnason.

According to Football Ghana, Tony Pulis rates the Icelandic midfielder very highly and would look to make the double swoop as Villa are in a position whereby they need to offload players.

The Verdict

Albert Adomah isn’t the same player he was when he was at Bristol City or even during his previous spell with Middlesbrough, but he is still a signing that would better the current Boro side.

He still has the pace and power to blow-away opposition fullbacks, albeit a little less speed than in previous seasons.

But if they re-signed the 30-year-old and had him on the opposite flank to Middlesbrough’s talismanic flair player Adama Traore, then there will be little hope for defenders on the opposing team.

Add that potential pair to the mix and bring in Bjarnason who is a steely midfielder who can clean-up a mess but also be cavalier in an attack, you are looking at an excellent double-swoop for Tony Pulis’ side.
