Championship rivals consider offering deal to Aston Villa target

Brentford are not ruling out the possibility of moving for free agent Moses Odubajo this summer, according to West London Sport.

Odubajo is currently training with his former side Brentford in pre-season in a bid to get his fitness back up to scratch and earn himself a contract at a new club.

He is a free agent after choosing to leave Hull City despite being offered a new deal at the KCOM Stadium.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined with a serious injury for the last two years and he needs to prove his fitness before earning himself a contract elsewhere.

His lack of playing time in the last two years led to Celtic dropping out of the race to sign him after he trained with the Scottish Premiership champions.

Aston Villa are also said to be interested in Odubajo this summer as Steve Bruce worked with the right-back at Hull and is mainly restricted to free transfers during the close season.

The former Leyton Orient youth product played one season at Brentford before his move to Hull but he could return if he can convince the Bees that he is good enough to earn a contract.

The Verdict

I believe Odubajo is worth the risk – possibly on a short-term deal initially.

The marauding right-back, who can also play as a right-winger, is such a dangerous threat going forward with his speed and skill and he is solid at the back.

If he does get back to full fitness, there is no reason why Odubajo cannot become a future Premier League player as he is still young and has time to develop.
