Championship playoff hunters Bristol City are set to make a move for Sunderland winger Aiden McGeady, according to a report by the Chronicle.

McGeady was one of few players for the Black Cats to emerge with any credit after their miserable season last time out which resulted in relegation from the Championship, and now McGeady could well be open to a move away from the club and back into the Championship.

It is believed that Robins manager Lee Johnson is keen on adding the former Everton winger to the ranks, and it would be fair to assume that Sunderland would not stand in the way of McGeady moving on given the wages he will probably be occupying.

The 32-year-old has plenty of experience following his spells with Celtic and Spartak Moscow, and his top level knowhow would no doubt be a benefit for Lee Johnson's Bristol City side, who came up short in their hunt for a top six spot last term.

Sunderland have a big summer ahead of them in the transfer market and McGeady could well be just one of a whole host of players who could move away from the Stadium of Light.
