As the Sky Bet Championship season enters its final stages, the battle for the end of season awards begin and this morning the shortlist for player of the season has been announced via the officials of the league.
Watford striker Troy Deeney, on loan Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford, who plays for Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy are the three players in contention.
All three of the strikers have had fantastic seasons and it will be difficult to pick one to win out of the three.
However, all three have qualities that could win them the title of Championship player of the season. Birmingham born Troy Deeney has broken a club record by scoring 20 goals for the third consecutive season which is a fantastic achievement for both him and the club.
Daryl Murphy is the league’s top goal scorer with 24 at the moment and should he not win this award, then he will most certainly win the golden boot.
Murphy has been one of the striking shocks of the year and his goals have helped push Mick McCarthy’s men into the play-off mix.
Finally, Patrick Bamford has once again proved that he can produce at Championship level with Middlesbrough.
The striker has netted 17 times this campaign which for somebody who the club have brought in on loan is a very good return.
Despite this though, Bamford has had other sparkling moments in the championship season but are they enough to win him the crown?
The award will be given out at the end of season ceremony on Sunday the 19th of April.
