Brentford boss Dean Smith used his pre-match press conference to dismiss speculation linking him to the West Brom job.

Brentford are currently on a seven game unbeaten run which has taken them to within three points of the play-offs.

They have Barnsley next who are fighting relegation, so they have a good chance of closing the gap on the teams above them because Derby play Aston Villa while Middlesbrough and Millwall play each other.

This has been done while playing an exciting brand of football similar to their local rivals Fulham, although they don't receive as much attention.

The ability to deliver results in this style has led to Smith being linked with the West Brom job after Alan Pardew was sacked. However, he dismissed the links with the job as just speculation:

The Verdict

Dean Smith has done well with Brentford in his two-and-a-half seasons there. They have finished ninth and tenth in his first two seasons with this one looking to be similar, and they have had plenty of outgoings during that time.

Therefore, he deserves a chance in the Premier League, but it's no surprise that he doesn't appear to be interested in the West Brom job because he is much more likely to get the Bees promoted than them. It would also be wise to wait for another job to come up because it's likely that he will continue to be linked with other jobs if he continues his success with Brentford.
