Ryan Sessegnon has become a key player for Fulham in Slavisa Jokanovic's tenure.

The 18-year-old has featured on 48 occasions in the league this season

His numbers are astounding for someone so young playing at this level because he has 16 goals and seven assists. This has naturally attracted a lot of interest from the Premier League teams, including the likes of Man United and Tottenham.

A 23-game unbeaten run led Fulham to the verge of the automatic promotion spots, but they failed at the final hurdle because they lost to Birmingham and couldn't take advantage of Cardiff's draw on the final day of the season.

However, they were able to get over this disappointment and dispatch Derby in the play-off semi-finals. Aston Villa now stand between them and their aim of Premier League football.

Jokanovic had this to say about Sessegnon to the Daily Mail: "At first I'd brought him in to see what he could offer for the future. After one month he was doing fantastic. He scored a great goal against Brighton and that's when I knew I could trust him.

"Whether you're 16 and two months or 36, it's simple: he did a better job than others. I wanted to play him against Newcastle but I waited a week. When I put his name on the board, some players thought I'd made a mistake. But they were the ones who made the mistake of thinking about themselves. They hadn't noticed this quality. Now he has played more than 80 games. He is special."

The Verdict

Sessegnon started out as a left-back, but now plays as a winger due to it getting the best out of his intelligent movement and poaching instinct.

He has started to become the difference in big games because he scored the opener in a tough match against Millwall late in the season, as well as the first goal against Derby in the semi-finals, so he will be important in the clash against Aston Villa.
