Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka is lining up a £10 million January move for clinical Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, according to today’s print edition of the Sun.
The English striker has scored 155 goals in all competitions since 2009, when he joined Huddersfield Town from Ipswich Town. From there, he moved on to Rovers, where he has since become a fan favourite.
Boro, however, are sitting top of the Sky Bet Championship table, four points clear of second placed Derby County, who they beat 2-0 on Saturday.
They could simply be too tempting for the Blackburn man, with the prospect of Premier League football returning to the Riverside becoming increasingly likely.
Rhodes has helped Paul Lambert’s Rovers to 17th in the table with a game in hand, which will be against Middlesbrough, and has helped them revive a season that looked set for a relegation dogfight in the opening weeks.
Nothing is finalised yet, as no formal offer has been made, but Karanka will certainly hope he can pull off this deal before the window ends at the end of the month.
