Bristol City striker Matty Taylor has been nominated for the League One player of the month award after netting seven goals in seven appearances during February for loan club Oxford United.

Taylor completed his temporary move to Oxford back in August after netting just four league goals during the previous campaign for the Robins, and the 29-year-old has been a key player for the U's in their League One promotion push this term.

The striker has found the net 17 times for Karl Robinson's side since his arrival at the club, with the frontman having become a regular feature in the starting line-up which has seen him make 34 outings in all competitions for the third-tier outfit.

Taylor was allowed to leave Ashton Gate after scoring just eight goals during his 75 showings for the Robins but Lee Johnson currently has a wide range of attacking options including Famara Diedhiou, Andreas Weimann, Benik Afobe and Nahki Wells.

Bristol Live reporter Gregor MacGregor has now taken to Twitter to share news of Taylor's latest nomination, with MacGregor also posing the question of whether there could have been role at City for Taylor during the current campaign.
