Lincoln City secured the services of midfielder Michael O'Connor over the weekend, with the experienced 31-year-old signing a new deal with the club, as revealed on redimps.com.

O'Connor was one of just three players going into the summer without a new contract but, after some negotiations, he's now committed his future to the recently-promoted League One side.

That leaves just Matt Gilks and Sam Habergham with an uncertain future with the Imps.

Belfast-born O'Connor began his career with Crewe Alexandra before enjoying a loan spell with the Imps back in 2009.

He later played for Scunthorpe, Rotherham and Port Vale across all three EFL divisions.

He moved to Notts County where injury hampered his progress, but under Danny Cowley at Lincoln he's been superb. He was a key figure as they won the League Two title last season and has plenty of experience to add to the side in the coming months.

Fans were delighted with his capture, signalling that almost all of the title-winning squad are staying together. One Twitter user even believes they could go one better this coming year, just like Luton Town have.

Here are the best of their responses.
