Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted Barnsley's winless run to continue against Derby County in the Championship tomorrow night.

Barnsley won automatic promotion from League One last season, but have struggled to make an impact since their return to the Championship and are without a win since the opening day of the season.

Since their 1-0 win over Fulham in August, Daniel Stendel's side have picked up just two points in their eight league matches since and face another tough game against Derby on Wednesday evening.

Derby reached the play-off final under Frank Lampard last season, but have made a slow start to their new campaign under new manager Phillip Cocu.

After a difficult week off the field, the Rams picked up their first league win since their opening game against Birmingham City at the weekend and will be hoping to continue their momentum with another three points at Barnsley tomorrow night.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton is expecting a close game at Oakwell and has predicted a 1-1 draw.

"Barnsley are in a bit of trouble for me. Brentford had scored just once away from home all season before rocking up at Oakwell and notching three, while coming from behind and winning to boot," Purtton told Sky Sports.

"Derby showed huge resilience after a difficult week to beat Birmingham on Saturday. It remains to be seen whether they can keep that up on Wednesday, but I think this one will be a draw."

The Verdict

It's been a difficult week for Derby off the field, but it was a massive result for them against Birmingham on Saturday and they'll now be hoping to pick up another win and start building some momentum.

As for Barnsley, they were brilliant against Fulham on the opening day, but they've really struggled since then and have struggled to score goals too - which makes it extremely difficult to win games at this level.

Their home form was magnificent in their promotion campaign last season and that will need to improve if they're to avoid an immediate return to League One.

I think Prutton could be right though. I'm expecting a close game at Oakwell tomorrow night and I wouldn't be surprised to see it end in a draw.
