QPR and Sheffield Wednesday are both interested in signing centre back Aden Flint from Cardiff City before the transfer window closes on Friday, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

Both clubs are seemingly keen to strengthen their respective squads before that deadline, and it seems both clubs have identified Flint as a candidate to do that.

According to the latest reports, both Wednesday and QPR are keen to secure the services of the 31-year-old, and seems they be given the opportunity to do that.

The centre back has not featured in any of Cardiff's four Championship games this season, and it is thought that he is not part of Bluebirds manager Neil Harris' plans for the coming campaign, which Wednesday and QPR are now seemingly keen to take advantage of.

Flint only joined Cardiff from fellow Championship side Middlesbrough for a reported £6million last summer, and has so far made a total of 30 appearances in all competitions for the club from the Welsh capital, scoring five goals.

As things stand, there are still two years remaining on Flint's contract with Cardiff, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Verdict

This could be a decent signing for one of these clubs.

QPR in particular look as though they could benefit from an extra option in the centre of their defence, and Flint could be a decent option to do that with.

The 31-year-old has plenty of Championship experience, meaning he could no doubt be useful for a club at this level, especially when you consider the difficult situation Wednesday find themselves in at the minute.

However, it could be argued that Cardiff will want to recoup much of what they paid Middlesbrough for Flint last summer, so it is possible that this deal will not be cheap for either Wednesday or QPR.
