Arsenal are lining up a summer move for Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks, according to a report by The Sun.
The Gunners have sent scouts to watch Fredericks this season and he has impressed enough for them to ponder a move.
Fredericks has excelled in his right back role for Fulham this season, helping Slavisa Jokanovic’s team rise to 3rd and compete for automatic promotion.
The 25-year-old was named in the EFL and PFA Championship Team of the Year and he has subsequently attracted attention from the likes of West Ham United, who are hoping to snap the full back up for next season.
Fredericks is out of contract at the end of the season and yet to commit to a new deal at Craven Cottage, meaning that Arsenal or another Premier League club could sign him on a free transfer this summer.
Arsenal currently have Hector Bellerin as their first choice right back but he has attracted interest from abroad and Arsene Wenger wants someone to compete with him.
Former Tottenham defender Fredericks is on their radar to fill that void as they look to improve upon this season’s disappointing league finish and compete for Champions League football again next term.
Ryan Fredericks has had an excellent season and his focus will be solely on trying to get the Cottagers promoted. But his future will be playing on his mind and it is a big summer ahead. I think that if Fulham go up, he will sign a new deal. If they do not, he has to choose between joining West Ham – where he would probably be a starter – or Arsenal, where he is likely to play second fiddle to Bellerin if he stays.
