Jamie McAllister has been previewing Bristol City’s trip to Elland Road on Sunday, with the first-team coach admitting he believes Leeds United are a top-six side.

Speaking to Bristol City’s official media (@bcfctweets) ahead of Sunday’s clash, McAllister has talked up Leeds’ ability, claiming they are a top-six side and will be looking to turn things around against the Robins at the weekend.

Lee Johnson, Bristol’s manager, has led his side to sixth in the Sky Bet Championship table after 31 fixtures of the season, with Leeds amongst a number of clubs looking to catch the Robins during the final 15 fixtures.

However, a miserable start to 2018 for Leeds has seen them slip well off the pace in the race for the top-six, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side in 11th, eight points adrift of Sunday’s opponents.

Heckingbottom replaced Thomas Christiansen, as Leeds’ head-coach earlier this month, with the Whites searching for their first victory under the 40-year-old this weekend, in what will be his Elland Road debut.

Whilst Leeds’ run has seen them fall away in the race for the top-six, they are not the only club to endure a testing start to the calendar year, with Bristol City also looking to record only their second victory since Boxing Day.

The Verdict

Whether Leeds are top-six quality is certainly up for debate, and the number of injuries and suspensions working against the Whites will hand Bristol City an advantage on Sunday.

However, it is make or break for Leeds this weekend – they need three points and will be well fired up for the contest.

McAllister seems well aware of the significance of Sunday’s fixture.
