Liverpool are prepared to let young midfielder Harry Wilson spend the latter part of this season out on loan in the Sky Bet Championship, according to a report by The Mirror.

Barnsley are thought to be one of a number of clubs interested in Harry Wilson after they missed out on him during the summer transfer window.

The Tykes are likely to reignite their interest in the wide man when the transfer window re-opens in the new year but they face competition from a number of other potential suitors from the second tier.

Liverpool blocked the 20-year-old's potential loan exit in the summer because Jurgen Klopp was keen to run the rule over him in the first team.

However, with a number of talented attacking midfielders on their books, such as Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Ben Woodburn and more, Liverpool are now willing to let Harry Wilson continue his footballing education away from Anfield.

The once-capped Wales international - who became the youngest ever Wales player aged 16 - is keen to reclaim his place in the national side and a loan stint in the Championship could help his case.

The diminutive 5ft 8in winger is likely to be hunted by a number of second tier sides.

The Verdict

Harry Wilson would be an asset for most Championship sides.

Although he is slight in frame, he is a bag of tricks and is comfortable on either wing.

With five goals in three PL2 games this season - including a hat-trick against Spurs - Wilson knows where the net is and would thrive in the Championship.
