Wolverhampton Wanderers have put Joe Mason up for loan, according to Football Insider.

Sources close to Football Insider have revealed that a host of Championship clubs have been alerted to his availability and are weighing up an offer to take Joe Mason on loan.

Wolves snapped up Al Hilal striker Leo Bonatini on loan earlier this week.

The 23-year-old Brazilian forward is expected to compete with Nouha Dicko and Bright Enobakhare for the striker spot while Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro can also play up front.

As a result, Joe Mason is now surplus to requirements.

New Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to trim his squad down and will subsequently let Joe Mason leave.

Fulham, Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers are all now interested in the 26-year-old as they line up loan moves.

Fulham have made it their goal to add a new striker this summer.

The Cottagers have snapped up Aboubakar Kamara but could bring in Joe Mason as well to provide competition for places with Kamara and Cauley Woodrow.

Bristol City still need to replace Tammy Abraham, whose goals while on loan helped keep them up.

QPR, meanwhile, need more firepower up front after an underwhelming season.

The Verdict

Joe Mason has never been the most prolific striker around; he has 7 in 37 for Wolves and scored 25 goals in 109 games for Cardiff City.

However, the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international provides plenty of experience at this level and he is a very good squad option to have.

If Bristol City, Fulham and QPR see him as a back-up option, Mason could be a very shrewd addition on loan.
