Championship promotion winners Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Celtic wonderkid Kieran Tierney, according to the Daily Star.
The 19-year-old has turned into a superstar at left-back for Celtic and has been on the shortlist for Arsenal and Liverpool for some time – and now Rafa Benitez wants to bring him to St. James’ Park.
The Magpies have already been linked with a move for Celtic centre half Jozo Simunovic, who has also starred in what looks to be a treble winning season for the Bhoys.
Rafa Benitez wants a £100 million transfer budget this summer to make changes for the Premier League.
Fulham star Tom Cairney and Everton’s James McCarthy are both players he’s interested in, among eight who Benitez wants to bring in this summer.
Tierney would undoubtedly command an enormous chunk of his budget, but for a player showing so much promise, it could very well be worth it.
