Millwall have expressed an interest in Ashley Fletcher, Marvin Johnson and Grant Leadbitter.

The Middlesbrough trio could well be involved in a deal that sees George Saville move in the opposite direction.

There has been an interest from Boro in Saville for large parts of the summer, and with a week of the window remaining, Tony Pulis has set about securing a deal for the Millwall midfielder.

According to TEAMtalk, Millwall have an interest in Fletcher, Johnson and Leadbitter, who could be involved in part of the deal to take Saville to the North East.

Fletcher and Johnson were both signings made by Garry Monk at the Riverside Stadium, with neither playing a key role under Pulis, who took Boro to the play-offs last season.

Leadbitter is Boro’s club captain, but he has found his opportunities limited this season, with Pulis turning to other options.

Adam Clayton, Jonny Howson and Lewis Wing have all be preferred in a central midfield role.

Boro have 13 points from their opening five fixtures, whilst Millwall sit 16th with five points under their belt.

Neil Harris’ side have suffered back-to-back defeats in their last two outings.

The Verdict

Losing Saville would be a blow for Millwall, but bringing in extra bodies from Boro would help to cushion that blow.

Leadbitter would be a like-for-like replacement, although he doesn’t have age on his side, whilst Fletcher and Johnson would strengthen other areas of Harris’ playing squad.

This has the potential to be a good deal for all parties involved.
