Stoke City have made an approach to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe on loan, but their offer is likely to be rejected, according to the Daily Mail.
Nathan Jones keen to strengthen his options at centre-back before the transfer deadline on Thursday, with Ryan Shawcross expected to miss the season after suffering a broken ankle.
Stoke have made contact with Manchester United over a possible loan deal for Tuanzebe, but their offer is expected to be rejected, with the 21-year-old keen to remain at Old Trafford until at least January to fight for his place in the first-team.
Tuanzebe has made eight appearances for Manchester United so far in his career and impressed while on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa last season.
Stoke began the new season with a 2-1 defeat at home to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and face Charlton Atheltic in their next game this weekend.
This would be a fantastic signing for Stoke. Tuanzebe is a very good defender and he showed while on loan at Aston Villa last season that he’s got the potential to become a top player.
He’s already got plenty of experience in the Championship now too, so he wouldn’t need to adapt to the physical demands of the division.
However, it doesn’t seem as though there is any chance of this deal happening. Tuanzebe is keen to remain at Old Trafford and wants to fight for his place in the Manchester United first-team.
On top of that, he’s already had one season in the Championship and Manchester United will want him to keep improving, so I think they’re probably more likely to want to loan him out to the Premier League.
