Sky Bet Championship outfit Fulham are closing in on the signing of Cardiff City goalkeeper Joe Lewis on loan, a club insider from Fulham has informed Football League World.
Fulham boss Kit Symons is very keen to sign the the 27-year-old custodian after losing first choice goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli to injury.
Lewis signed for the Bluebirds from Peterborough United back in 2012 but has only made two appearances after struggling to better first choice ‘keeper David Marshall – last season he made the loan switch to relegated Blackpool, playing 36 times for them.
The former Peterborough United goalkeeper will certainly provide cover and competition for Fulham’s current back up ‘keeper Andy Lonergan as well as bringing a vast amount of experience to Craven Cottage.
Fulham are still waiting on the severity of Bettinelli’s injury after he suffered knee ligament damage, which may affect how long Lewis stays in the capital.
Kit Symons’ side currently sit in 21st position in the Sky Bet Championship, after what has been a poor start to their 2015/16 campaign, with the club losing twice, and drawing twice.
Fulham fans… Would Lewis be a good signing for you? Can he provide cover and competition for Lonergan? Could he push Lonergan out the side and be your first choice? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
