Norwich City are targeting a deal to bring Kasey Palmer to Carrow Road from Chelsea this summer.

According to Sky Sports, Norwich are lining up a bid to bring Palmer back to the Sky Bet Championship, after the midfielder impressed during spells at Huddersfield Town and Derby County.

The Canaries have sold both James Maddison and Josh Murphy this summer, with Daniel Farke’s squad looking short of creativity ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Palmer is on Farke’s radar, according to reports, with the 21-year-old’s chance at Stamford Bridge looking limited.

So far during his career in senior football, Palmer is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea, spending time on-loan with Huddersfield, on two separate occasions, and Derby.

Palmer’s first spell with Huddersfield saw him score five goals for the Terriers, helping them to promotion during the 2016/17 campaign.

However, in the Premier League, Palmer struggled for regular opportunities, linking up with Derby on-loan in January.

During his six-months at Pride Park, Palmer featured on 16 occasions in the Championship, scoring two goals and registering one assist for Gary Rowett’s side.

Palmer helped Derby to sixth, but was unable to guide the Rams to promotion.

The Verdict

Palmer would be a shrewd addition at Norwich, and a good place for Farke to start, as he looks to replace Maddison and Murphy.

The loss of that duo is a blow for Norwich, but bringing a player of Palmer’s quality in will certainly cushion that blow.

If Palmer can build on his experience already in the Championship, he could become a big player at Carrow Road.
