Alex Neil has told the BBC that the increased scale of the Championship won't worry him as he looks to guide Norwich City towards the Premier League.

Ex-Hamilton Academical boss Neil - who won his first game in charge of the Canaries in some style by beating league leaders Bournemouth last weekend - told BBC Radio Norfolk that making the step up from the Scottish Premier League, where crowds are generally below 3,000, won't effect his performance.

"I've been in big stadiums with 50,000," he said, quoted by BBC Sport.

"At the end of the day it's 11 v 11 on the pitch.

"There are big games in Scotland - we go to Parkhead and play against Celtic, or Ibrox to play Rangers.

"I played in the Championship with Barnsley for four years. It's not as if this is all new to me."

Neil certainly didn't seem fazed by the 11,000 strong crowd as his side toppled league leaders Bournemouth on Saturday, despite being reduced to ten men.

Eddie Howe's men led when Matt Richie scored in the 18th minute, but were pegged back by a controversial Norwich equaliser before half time - with the ball seemingly striking Michael Turner on the arm before Gary Hooper scored.

The deadlock was held until Cameron Jerome curled in a sumptuous winner with ten minutes to go.

Neil admitted the win, which took Norwich within touching distance of the play-off places, was the perfect start to his tenure.

"We have quality players and they showed they have a good resolve and a good work ethic," he told BBC Sport.

"It is fantastic for me to win my first game but we know we have got a lot of work to do. I think we will improve but it is a great start."

Neil will be hoping to continue his explosive start when his side meet Cardiff this weekend.
