Preston North End manager Alex Neil is preparing his side to host Championship table toppers Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon, hoping to spring a surprise.

Preston are just one place and three points outside the play-off places and know that a win combined with a defeat for Bristol City would see them move into the top six.

Former Norwich City boss Neil is under no illusions about the scale of the task facing his side but is also confident in his side's abilities, calling on the narrow 3-2 defeat his side suffered at Molineux in October, where they battled back from 3-0 down to come close to snatching a draw as evidence of what they can do.

The Verdict

Wolves have returned to their best in recent weeks, but their away form has been patchy at times this season and Deepdale is a venue nobody in the Championship will relish playing in.

Neil is right to be confident in his players and I would not back against them getting a result and giving a good account of themselves - provided they somehow find a way to keep the Wolves attack quiet.
