Speaking to Burton Albion’s official website, Nigel Clough has praised counterpart Garry Monk for his job at Leeds United this season, ahead of the Brewers’ clash with the Whites this weekend.
Monk arrived at Elland Road last summer, with many expecting the 38-year old to struggle to work with Leeds’ owner, Massimo Cellino.
However, Monk’s side are competing for the end of season Play-Offs and currently sit seventh in the table, heading into the final three fixtures of the campaign.
Previewing Burton’s upcoming clash with Leeds, Clough praised Monk, indicating the club must be ahead of where they planned to be, he said: “Garry Monk has a done a great job, possibly ahead of their plan doing so well in his first season.”
Clough’s Burton have also surprised many this season and stand a real chance of surviving their first campaign in the Sky Bet Championship, currently sitting four-points outside the relegation zone.
After praising Monk, Clough went on to reveal his side are targeting 50-points, with the belief that will be enough for Burton to maintain their Championship status.
