Two clubs in the Champions League are reportedly chasing a Sunderland full-back.

Bryan Oviedo, who has been at the club since 2017, has reportedly attracted interest from around Europe, which includes his former side Copenhagen and Belgian Pro League runner ups, Club Brugge.

Belgium news outlet Voetbal Belgie have reported that Club Brugge will make a move for the Costa Rican this transfer window after they were priced out last summer.

Due to Brugge selling Wesley Moraes for a record £22million, they are now hopeful they will be able to afford the player, who allegedly no longer wants to play in League One.

A deal may have to wait though, as Oviedo is currently at the Gold Cup with his native Costa Rica - who are also hosting the tournament.

According to Chronicle Live, Sunderland need to cut down on their wage bill of £14million a year, and Oviedo is currently the highest earner in the entire squad.

The Verdict

Selling Oviedo to either Brugge or Copenhagen would be important business for Sunderland, who will definitely be hoping to get Oviedo off the wage bill this summer.

Oviedo will also be happy to leave after sticking at the club since 2017 - so the deal seems to suit all parties.

Sunderland also have l 20-year-old left-back Denver Hume, who signed a contract in April, who will wanted to be blooded into the first team fold more this season by coach Jack Ross.
