Ligue 1 are reportedly considering deciding the final standings of the 2019/20 campaign by the position of clubs at the midway point in the season, which has drawn an excited response from West Bromwich Albion fans.

It was announced yesterday by the French Prime Minister that no sporting events could take place until Septemeber, meaning the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons are effectively over.

It has been reported by RMC Sport (via ESPN) that one of the methods for determining the final league position being considered by Ligue 1 is using the standings at the midway point in the season when everyone had played each other once.

If the EFL were to follow suit and use the same principle, it would mean that West Brom would leapfrog Leeds United and win the Championship title.

Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham, Preston North End, and Brentford would be the four teams in the play-off places.

The Baggies are second as things stand, one point back from Leeds, and will surely feel they've got an excellent chance of finishing the season as champions if it is resumed.

Has Matheus Pereira done these 12 things at West Brom? Have a go now!
