Darragh MacAnthony has refused to rule out the possibility of Peterborough United signing Reece Brown on a permanent basis from Huddersfield Town.

Brown lit up Sky Bet League Two for Forest Green Rovers last term, helping Mark Cooper's side reach the play-offs after scoring 11 goals and registering 15 assists from attacking midfield.

But since moving to Huddersfield in the summer, the 24-year-old has made only one appearance for the Terriers, which came in a 1-0 defeat to Lincoln City in the first round of the Carabao Cup back in August.

Brown has been an important player for Posh since joining on loan for the rest of the season in January, making 10 appearances as Posh look to win promotion from League One.

MacAnthony has previously revealed on his YouTube channel that the club tried to sign Brown before his move to Huddersfield in the summer, with Championship football clearly too much to turn down for the player.

Now, taking to social media, the Posh chairman has revealed that despite missing out on a permanent deal in January, there will be conversations with Huddersfield about keeping him beyond this season.

Peterborough sit only one point outside of the play-off places in League One, and face promotion rivals Portsmouth this weekend.

The Verdict

I think it would be a real coup to land Brown on a permanent basis as he has been terrific since joining on loan in January.

Things haven't really gone according to plan for the midfielder since joining Huddersfield, and I thought he would have played a lot more for Town after shining in League Two last term.

Perhaps a move to Championship came too early in his career, and if he even spends another season in League One with Posh, it could be good for his development.
