Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has updated Posh fans with the latest Jack Marriott news, telling them they need to 'calm down' as any deal has yet to be done.

The 23-year old is the hottest property in League One this summer, with both Bristol City and Derby County alleged to have made bids this week.

MacAnthony, always vocal and open on social media, urged fans to calm down stating that as yet, nothing had been agreed and Marriott is, for now, a Peterborough player. His tweet also confirmed they had deflected bids in the January window too.

"All fans need to calm down on this as JM is with us right now happily training. Yes we have had many multiple enquiries and firm bids in January, May and now June from a lot of clubs as was/is expected. If/When anything happens, it will be confirmed officially"

Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Norwich are also being linked with a swoop for the striker, who scored 33 times in all competitions last season.

The Verdict

MacAnthony is a unique character in the English game, always very open and honest on social media, happily confirming or denying if certain clubs have been on the phone to Posh.

Marriott will move this summer, there's little doubt about that, it is just a matter of who will stump up the biggest fee. Expect this one to run until the dying embers of the transfer window.
