Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has taken to social media to offer an update on the Jack Marriott transfer saga.

Marriott is a transfer target for Nottingham Forest, amongst others, and would cost any potential suitor the thick end of £5m. After bagging 33 goals in all competitions last season, there's little surprise he's in such demand.

However, when quizzed on Twitter as to whether the club have accepted a bid for the former Ipswich trainee, MacAnthony confirmed that no bid had been accepted.

MacAnthony is no stranger to social media and often keeps fans updated on the latest comings and goings at London Road. H

e's also recently dismissed rumours that Wimbledon forward Lyle Taylor was close to a Posh move and he confirmed that Bristol City have had contact about one of his players.

He's always said that every player has his price though, Marriott included, but as yet it seems no club has been willing to test the water and see just how much money would be needed to prise away the in demand 23-year old.

The Verdict

Some criticise MacAnthony's open style, claiming that along with Barry Fry they reveal too much about dealings with other clubs. Other find it refreshing that a club owner is approachable by fans and willing to be frank and honest about his club's dealings.

As for Marriott, the bids will be coming, that you can be sure of.
