Leeds United have today been linked with moves for Peterborough pair Jack Marriott and Marcus Maddison, according to news website ClubCall.

The in-form pair have been magnificent for the Posh this term, with Marriott notching an impressive twenty goals and three assists since making the switch from League Two Luton Town in the summer.

Maddison is not far behind, with the playmaker finding the net seven times, but laying on a further fifteen assists to his teammates, with Marriott more often than not the recipient of his passes.

Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is said to be a keen admirer of the productive pair, but Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony today suggested on Twitter that his side are unlikely to part ways with the duo in the new year.

The businessman insisted all January transfer windows would be ignored unless something ‘mouthwatering’ materialised, so it is clear it would take a mammoth bid for Leeds to secure the services of the Posh’s key men.

The Verdict

Marriott and Maddison are quality young players who are obviously way too good to be playing their trade in the third tier.

Contributing to 45 goals between them already this year, the pair could easily break the hundred goal mark, a tally that would surely be good enough to fire the Posh to promotion this season.

It appears unlikely that Leeds will secure a winter deal for the pair, so rumours linking the duo with Elland Road should certainly be taken with a massive pinch of salt.
