Motherwell is the current destination for Ross McCormack, on loan from Aston Villa.
The 32-year-old is at the Scottish Premiership side for the rest of the campaign having played for them previously 13 years ago.
Moving from Fulham to Villa Park back in 2016, there was much fanfare to his arrival and expectation having just come off the back of an excellent season at Craven Cottage.
The move to Villa failed to work out, with three goals scored for the club in his debut season, making 20 appearances.
From that point on it has been loan spells out since to clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Melbourne City in the Australian A-League, and then to Central Coast Mariners before his latest destination north of the border.
Having had so much expectation on his shoulders and the move failing to work out, we look at if the signing of McCormack was one of Aston Villa’s biggest transfer blunders…
“Absolutely – and to think, the fee seemed reasonable at the time!
“McCormack has been a complete flop, and he will regret the Villa move more than anybody.
“To see his career go in the direction it has isn’t pleasant to watch.”
“Perhaps not their biggest, but certainly up there.
“At the time, knowing Bruce was coming in might have changed things.
“McCormack wasn’t that bad until Bruce took over.”
“It was a huge mistake.
“What an absolute mess this was.
“He’s definitely up there with the worst transfers they have ever made, and it’s clear to see why.
“I would be stunned if he was still with the club by the summer.”
